What we do

Six kinds of work, one careful crew

Every job starts with the same walkthrough and the same written estimate. Here is what each service covers.

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, trim and doors, from a single bedroom to a whole house.

  • Furniture moved, floors and fixtures covered
  • Holes, cracks and nail pops repaired
  • Two finish coats, edges cut by hand

One room: usually 1–2 days

Exterior painting

Siding, stucco, fascia, soffits, shutters and front doors, coated to stand up to sun, salt air and humidity.

  • Pressure wash and scrape loose paint
  • Caulk joints, prime bare wood and metal
  • Two coats of exterior acrylic

Most homes: 3–6 working days

Cabinet refinishing

A new look for kitchen and bath cabinets without the cost or mess of replacing them.

  • Doors and drawers removed and labeled
  • Degreased, sanded and primed for adhesion
  • Sprayed enamel for a smooth, hard finish

Typical kitchen: 5–7 days

Drywall repair

Patches, cracks, water stains and texture matching, finished so the repair disappears under paint.

  • Orange peel and knockdown textures matched
  • Water stains sealed before painting
  • Skim coats for smooth, even walls

Finished to Level 4 or Level 5

Trim, doors & millwork

Baseboards, crown, casings, built-ins, stair railings and interior doors.

  • Gaps caulked and nail holes filled
  • Glossy surfaces sanded so paint grips
  • Hard enamel that wipes clean

Semi-gloss or gloss enamel

Wallpaper & texture removal

Old wallpaper and popcorn ceilings taken down, and the surface made ready for paint.

  • Wallpaper stripped, adhesive washed off
  • Walls repaired and sealed with primer
  • Popcorn ceilings scraped, skimmed and repainted

Older textures tested for asbestos first

Prep

Most of a good finish happens before the color goes on

Paint copies whatever is under it. Every dent, seam and greasy patch shows through the final coat, so we fix the surface first. Here is the same wall at each stage.

  1. Stage 1

    Bare surface

Drywall, plaster, wood or stucco as we find it, with seams, nail pops and old repairs.

    Inspect and mark
  2. Stage 2

    Repaired

Cracks taped, holes filled, nail pops reset and sanded flush. Gaps along trim get caulked.

    Fill, sand, caulk
  3. Stage 3

    Primed

Seals patches and bare spots so the color dries evenly. Skipping it leaves dull patches called flashing.

    ≈ 1 mil dry
  4. Stage 4

    First coat

Builds the color and hides most of what's underneath. One coat almost never covers evenly.

    ≈ 1.4 mils dry
  5. Stage 5

    Finish coat

Even color and sheen across the whole wall, with edges cut by hand against trim and ceiling.

    ≈ 1.4 mils dry
≈ 4 mils

That is the total paint on a finished wall: about 0.1 mm, roughly the thickness of a sheet of printer paper. A film that thin can't hide a bad surface, so the surface has to be right.

Finishes

Choose the right sheen for each room

Sheen is how much light the paint reflects. Higher sheen is tougher and easier to clean, but it also shows every bump in the wall. Pick a room to see what we usually recommend.

FAQ

Questions we hear before most jobs

Something else on your mind? Ask it on the estimate form or call us.

How do you price a job?

By the work involved: surface area, condition and repairs, number of colors, ceiling height and access. After the walkthrough you get a written estimate broken down by room or by side of the house, so you can see where the cost goes and drop items if you need to.

How long does a project take?

A single room usually takes one to two days. A full interior of a three-bedroom home runs about four to seven working days. Exteriors depend on size and weather, and most homes take three to six days. Your estimate includes a schedule.

Do I need to move furniture first?

No. Put away small items and valuables, and we handle the rest: moving and covering furniture, removing outlet covers and hardware, and putting everything back when we finish.

When can we use the rooms again?

Interior latex paint is usually dry to the touch in about an hour, and rooms are ready for normal use that evening. Paint keeps hardening for two to four weeks, so avoid scrubbing walls or pushing furniture against them during that time.

What weather do you need for exterior work?

Dry surfaces, no rain for several hours after we apply paint, and temperatures within the product's rating, usually above 50 °F (10 °C). On hot days we start early and follow the shade around the house so paint doesn't dry too fast.

Can you help us choose colors?

Yes. We bring a fan deck and large sample boards to the walkthrough, and we can paint test patches on your walls so you see each color in morning and evening light before you commit.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation coverage, and we send copies of our certificates with every estimate.
